And they are off...to school

I can't believe my first born is going into 8th grade. It is so fun watching her grow and make good choices. She is such a good kid and wants to do the right thing. She sure makes it hard for the other kiddos. They have a tough act to follow.

Abby has to wake up every morning around 6:00am. She sets her own alarm and is up and ready for the bus. Thank goodness she is a morning person because I am not!

The kids at the bus stop saw me coming and wanted to run. They were good sports and let me have at least one picture. They have agreed to have one picture on the first day and one on the last day. That was their deal.

Ethan decided to wake up and see them off.

Ethan, the stud. This kid is hilarious. He drives me bonkers, but I think it is because he is so much like me. He has a lot of Lance, too. Ethan would never do anything to hurt anyone. His heart is pure gold. He has a really corky humor (which I love) and is nothing but a gentleman. He is always telling Lance and myself how lucky he is to have wonderful parents.  He says he hears his friends talk about their parents and he feels so blessed. Sweet, huh? He is very bright in school and for the most part makes Lance and my job super easy as parents. Love him.

He is going into the 6th grade this year. Ethan is not a morning person. When his alarm is going off in the morning he is oblivious. I guess he is a deep sleeper. Thank goodness this year he gets to sleep in a little. Next year...6:30, baby.

Emma, my 3rd grader is getting so big. She is as spunky as ever. Full of personality and sass. She still gives the most amazing hugs, you now the kind that you can just feel the love seeping through. She is our sensitive one. She has always loved hard, played hard, laughed hard, been mad hard, and cried hard. She wears her heart on her sleeve.

Emma has changed a lot this year. She wants to please me and Lance. There was a day (actually a lot of days) that I wondered if that would ever happen. She has always marched to her own beat.  Yes, at times this makes me very anxious, but she is really turning out to be an obedient child. She makes friends so easy and is such a joy to have around.

Katie- Smatie, Wow kindergarten. Kate is so ready for school.  She is a hard worker and loves to be with people. She was most excited for the bus ride and recess.

Going to school is really going to help Kate.  She has always loved to be right by side (or in my lap), which is nice but .... lets just say school will be good for her (and me).  I can't wait to hear all about her day.

An hour an a half later I was getting the other kids off. It was an exciting day for all of these kids. It is so fun to be a part of it all. Us mothers were just as excited.

Gavin is really gonna miss Emma.

There they go getting on the bus. Taking a deep breath.

Gavin keeps saying with a huge grin on his face, "It's just you and me, Mom."
