Labor Day weekend

This past weekend was Labor Day. We wanted to do something fun as a family but our options are a little limited right now. Big mama (that's me, 37 weeks prego) doesn't feel like doing too much other than sitting and eating.  My brain wants to do so much more but my energy level is slowing down quite a bit these days. Plus, this baby's head is rubbing on my pelvic bone constantly.  I kept telling Lance we should make a quick drive up to Chicago for the weekend and he just looked at me like I was crazy. I am crazy, there is absolutely no way that I could make it in Chicago with my big belly.
I would have needed a motorized scooter, for sure.

We have heard so much about the Brown County area, which is an hour south of us. We had heard that the drive was an easy and scenic one. I am glad we decided to do it. We all had a great time. Nashville, IN is a little tourist town in Brown County with several little gift shops, fudge shops, candy shops, toy stores, and boutiques.  There was plenty for everyone to see.

There were several junk/antique shops on the way down so we stopped at one to take a quick glance. Bean Blossom, IN. Who knew there was such a place? The store was very interesting, even more interesting was the owner who was "antique" himself.  He was rocking a pair of shorts and cowboy boots with skinny white legs. He was a character to remember. It was quite a site. We loved it.

G-ma Texas, this one is for you. Abby was convinced you would love it.

Kate found the cutest little kitten. She has been taking the best care of it. It's fake but has real fur. This is the closest thing she will ever get to a real kitten since we have so many people around here with cat allergies. She named her kitten Molly,
after the late Molly cat in Texas (my Mom's cat that recently died).
The homemade ice cream was the biggest hit.

After we shopped around Nashville we drove to the Edinburg outlets and shopped all the good Labor Day sales. We had a great day. So glad that we all enjoy being together.
