Camp week

This summer girls camp and scout camp fell on the same week. That meant that Abby and Ethan were gone the same week. We missed them terribly. Although, I must say that it was interesting to see how the younger kids acted while the "big" kids were gone. The "younger" kids really stepped up their game. Emma totally took on the role that Abby usually carries. She was constantly asking how she could help. I was so happy about that. Even Kate and Gavin were more helpful. It was fun to have a week to focus on just the younger kids. We had lots of fun.

Ethan left for scout camp on Sunday. Here is a small group of the boys getting ready to head out. Aren't they cute? Total nerds but we love them.
Lance was able to go up and visit one of the nights. He said that Ethan was totally in is element. Isn't scout camp any boys dream. No mother hovering over them reminding them to bathe and brush their teeth. I know Ethan enjoyed the break.

Abby left Tuesday morning. She drove up with her girlfriend Saige or "Saggy" as we call her.

The kids slept together most of the nights that the older kids were gone. They also decided that sleeping in Lance's shirts would be cool. I am so thankful that these kids get along so well. Don't get me wrong, sometimes they fight like dogs but for the most time they are best friends.
One morning they all came in my room and we all just sat on the floor playing with Sam. It feels so good to not have to rush off anywhere. Summer is good.
Sam is beginning to think about crawling. He really hates his tummy. If I try and place him on his tummy he quickly rolls over. Little stinker. Gavin is trying top encourage him to crawl.

Emma had a playdate with Saige's younger sister, Abby. They are so cute together. It was great to have her around for the day.
That same day Gavin and Brayden were out playing and decided to swim in the rain. We did a little in our backyard and then headed up to the neighborhood pool.

Dad came up for a quick swim. Poor guy gets attacked when he comes up to the pool.  All the kids beg him to throw them or play around.

The kids and I wrote letters the Abby and Ethan. We were really starting to miss them around the middle of the week. Emma kept saying " I really miss Ethan." Kate missed staying up and chatting with Abby late at night. Those two share a room right now and are so much alike.
