Conference weekend around our house means cinnamon rolls. We have been doing this for several years now. The kids do a great job at jumping in and helping me. My hope is to train one of them so they can make them for us often.
We painted some rock pets while we listened to the
A group of girls from Kate's church class were signing up for volleyball through the YMCA so we decided to jump on the bandwagon and have some fun. Volleyball at this young age of 8-9 years old is . . . interesting or not interesting. Let me just say it was a whole lot of watching cute little girls "try" to hit the ball over the net but never actually making it. It was comical and adorable all at the same time. Kate had a great time with her friends so that is what was most important. She had practice once a week and then games every Saturday.
I drove the girls to and from practice one night. Sam came along and played with a new friend we met there. The two of them ran up and down this set of nets tucked behind the bleachers. Once again I am reminded of just how silly my Kate is when she gets with her group of friends. This girl knows how to have a good time.Kate improved over the short season. She still says she prefers soccer so we will try to get her in that next time around. My favorite part was when she would serve. She would get real serious and then get in serving position. She would then wind up "several" times (and by "several" I mean 11 times, no joke). What a cutie-pie.
Kate's 9th birthday was on a Saturday this year. We opened up her gifts first thing in the morning and then the family headed off to watch her volleyball game and then grab donuts, instead of a cake.
Another awesome Thursday night that wouldn't be complete without a visit from the scheduled Ice Cream Man! We enjoyed ice cream with our new neighbors that just moved here from Australia. Talk about the coolest accent coming from the mouths of young babes. I love it. I could listen to them all night. Can't wait to get to know them a little more.
Ethan's swim team held a fundraiser at our Applebee's where they served breakfast to the swim families. Ethan and his buddy Cameron were naturals when it came to serving. We were easy customers.
