Firecrackers, Homework, and Swimming

We bought fireworks to do several weeks ago but never got the chance. Finally last week Ethan pulled them out. What is it about boys and fireworks? We had roman candles, smoke bombs, sparklers, bottle caps, and snakes. The kids loved every minute of it as you can see.

Gavin is loving kindergarten. He has really been stepping it up around the house as far as doing lots of "big boy" things. He has told me on a number of occasions that he does not need help with making his lunch now that he is in school. I love it seeing him gain some independence.
He does come home very tired and emotional. He has lots of pent up energy. We have been trying to get all his chores done in the morning so he can run outside as soon as he gets home. Happy days!
Homework hasn't been too painful, yet. I was super happy to hear Emma's teacher say that he is not a big fan of homework. He tries very hard to make sure his students have little to none. That is what school time is for, he says. That will be a contrast from last year. Thankfully, Abby was around to help Emma with the little bit that she had.

Because it is still summer, technically, I wanted to take the kids swimming a few more times while it is warm. After school we quickly finished chores and headed to the pool.  We were in luck because our neighbors had the same idea and joined us.

Before the bus came this morning the kiddos took a little time to do some reading. I have always loved when the older kids read to the younger ones.

Heading out to the bus.
